Take the Cannoli (Keeton)

Can something so negative such as doom bring people together in a positive way?

I think this can actually go both ways. If you think about a plane crash or natural disasters you wonder what were the people involved thinking or feeling before and during the tragedy. I think that these situations can truly bring people closer and can show the good side in people such as a protector. These protectors can be family members, neighbors, or even someone you just met.

I also think in other negative situations can bring out the bad side in people. If someone is in a situation where its life or death between two people, I feel people can become selfish. Others would take the bullet for another person.

This question can be applied to the bridge program. We are all under this pressure to do well, to get our work done, and to complete this successfully to get into Columbia. We all say we aren't here to make friends right now because we have to focus, but unintently we are becoming close friends.

This question really makes you think how would you act in these different situations and what would you do if someone acted differently?

  1. I agree with this. In a life or death situation when there are only two people, they can become anxious and therefore selfish. They might not help each other. If it is an unexpected situation people might not bond before but they could bond after the disaster.
