Every emcees, writer & poet all have a thought process they use before they commit to writing a piece. I would describe my process before writing, a little bit unusual.
When I hear a beat, I listen to all the instruments. I open my ears to the drums, the structure and overall pattern. Words start falling into my brain, like a download. Even if I had to use a dictionary to any extent. I use the words and the beat to form a creative concept whether fiction or actually personal. Once I get a hold of my concept which I choose to write about, I replay the beat and stall for a while. Sometimes the writing can follow naturally or I may take my time to word everything correctly as a true lyricist.
Another process to writing is checking to see how everything flows and sounds together. A great level of emceeing requires such as breath control, delivery, presence and an overall drive throughout to carry the rhyme.
There may be plenty of rappers and emcee that can do the same thing. Not many can master the skill behind the process and how it's done. I've learned to use my process to accomplish the true form of art that I am aiming to reach.
At the age 13 I was taught how to write rhymes. Then it seemed so easy, but when you learn to be original and make it your own, it takes time and practice. I use to write daily, even if it wasn't to my greatest potential, I would write nonsense to get it out of my system.
I was trained to use your brain to your best ability. Not every emcee can take the time to structure a rhyme but yet not lose your attention at the same time. Cleverness is nice to have when it comes to display your skill, but sometimes it can be extremely exaggerated and go over your head. If every criteria of emceeing is at a level of perfection, you can have your own craft down pat!
