Hi. I'm Courtney and I'm your co-instructor for Bridge 2011.
About me: I'm a graduate student and instructor in Columbia's MFA-poetry program. I possess dual degrees in English and psychology with minors in literature and sociology. I have almost finished a third degree in philosophy. My academic interests include: cognitive rhetorical theory, epistemology, aesthetics (quantifying the aesthetic experience via empirical science and study), phenomenology, poetry, humanistic and existential psychology, and cognitive neuroscience. After I've earned my graduate degree, I hope to attend a doctoral program to study cognitive rhetoric.
My hobbies include running, writing, reading, drawing, swimming, spinning, photography, painting, illustrating, and movies. I love love love teaching and have worked in classrooms of all ages--from infants to undergraduates. As your instructor, I want to familiarize you with the personal and social functions of writing. I want to introduce you to writing's potential for both individual growth and societal change.
